I understand your CAP vs DMT point of view. No doubt that
from a pure technology perspective it is superior.

But I'm not convinced that this is the driving issue at this point in
time. My point is still this, the net cannot handle the spec
performance of either technology and probably won't be able
to handle the thru put for a couple of years. Alot of
things can take place in a couple of years.... a company
could buy DMT chips at a significantly lower cost, money can be made in the meantime that allows it to enter the market with a mature
product etc. A company could leapfrog the competition with money
made in the short term..... Alot of things could happen.

Yeah, DMT is obviously better than CAP but its an issue of diminishing
returns. Kinda like buying a Porsche...spend 3 x the money for marginal improvements in performance. In this case, unless proved otherwise both devices will perform equally well given the latency and congestion associated with the NET as a whole.

You tell me, will a DMT modem run faster than a CAP modem when I'm sitting at my house running on real circuits connected to a real world ISP?
