I don't know if you've seen this. It's a good overview of where AT&T stands today:

zdnet.com

The best quote is:

AT&T paid a huge price for TCI's 10 million residential customers and access to another 7 million homes, and it's on the hook for billions more to upgrade TCI's network. "The math just doesn't work out," said a former AT&T executive. "It's a crappy network. The problem is, there aren't any alternatives."

If that was partly directed at me, thanks, I think.

Keep up the lively debate gentlemen. These balanced and well reasoned presentations of all sides of an issue are why I read and participate in SI.

Is there a deadline date for competitive filings on the TCI/T merger? When will we know that the merger can move forward sans FCC rulings?

Good investing to all,
Stuart
