>>Joe: Looks like it opened higher right on the trend line, but was not able to close above it to trivialized this line just yet. It will be interesting to see how this is going to evolve in the next few days. I am patiently waiting. Best luck, trading our way to wealth! -q<<

Looks to me like somebody wants to distract us with trend lines.<gg>

Re: Network Storage

This is a big growth market based upon the increasing need to archive data and files. NT servers run out of space pretty quickly, and in the mainframe world it's storage is expensive on IBM machines. So storage mechanisms fill this need. EMC has been a great stock - if you don't know about it check it out. It's pricey, but keeps growing and growing and growing.

These storage devices need to be linked to the network and to servers on the network. They also serve as backups to the production servers. While some storage devices can talk in ethernet and other media, fibre channel is a preferred media here. Most networkers don't talk fibre channel, just as most networkers cannot connect directly to mainframe CPUs (Cisco routers excepted). It appears that 3Com will be bringing to market fibre channel products and integration services to link enterprise nets to the storage nets.

Anecdotally, almost every one of the customers I deal with currently is either building out SANs or in the process of designing one. This is "data center" type activity, right behind the core of the network. It appears COMS believes there is value in having the network vendor having products, services, and net mgmt, tools that for linkage to this space.
