This ain't necessarily related to your msg, Spots, though that was interesting. But can anybody help me out with a problem?

I recently bought a new barebones system(case, CPU((AMD K6-2 300)) and power supply). It's a pcchps m577 motherboard.

Removed hard drive, floppy drive cd drive, modem and video card from old machine. Installed in new machine along with a 64mb dimm chip.
Tried to boot. Power comes on, power supply and cpu fans start spinning. Lights on keyboard flash. However, there is no video signal ("no signal input" displays on monitor). I tried moving video card(pci) to another slot. Even tried a different video card with same results. PC does start beeping violently after a few moments.

Anybody have any ideas?

>>sunshine isn't good for geeks

Know what you mean. Some time ago, I spent years in a data center designed by the paranoid to be bomb-proof etc. The one (one!) window in the building was available solely to the security guard and positioned directly over the gun ports. (ONLY slight exaggeration here!) When I later got cleared to do some work at home, I immediately set up directly in front of a window - determined to no longer be a mushroom!

Well, years later, the blinds on that window are nearly always closed. The thing with the mouse, the way the monitor case faded, the clarity with which I could see the dust, the difficulty in seeing the monitor, etc have led me reluctantly back to the cave or bunker state of being. Yet another circle is complete. <very small wry-type g>
