Well it's official . I have the 8-k that was filed today by IDC. The last sentence says:

" This transaction brings Interdigital's total licensing and alliance revenue in 1998 to approximately $75 million "

Note the quotation marks , these are not my words they are from the filing . Now here's how I look at this deal . At the end of June per SEC filing we had $52,756,000 in licensing and alliance revenues so I'll round it off to $53 million. $75 million less $53 million leaves 22 million. It is possible that IDC received some recurring revenues which always is stated as recurring revenues from one un-named licensee. This figure has never been over a million for a quarter but let's say a million and that leaves $21 million left.

Now it may also be possible that Alcatel may have added some moneys due to their agreement but let's assume they didn't. This deal today would then be worth about $21 million as was stated a few posts back which is about 40 cents a share . Now even if Alcatel added say 5 million through their agreement , this to me is still a huge deal. The simple fact that this company's primary business according to their home page is selling auto parts and they paid IDC a huge sum like this is dazzling.

Looking back at this year so far we now have earned $75 million form Kyocera , Sharp , Toshiba, Denso and Alcatel. I believe only one of these licensees was mentioned in a recent post of mine about companies that have market share regarding handsets. It was Alcatel at 3 %.

What does IDC have coming from SONY, ERICY, NOKIA. PHILIPS, ALCATEL , FUJITSU, MOTOROLA and LUCENT if they license ?

I am still firm on my believe that these revenues that are due IDC should be collected through the efforts of ITC. This company was formed to protect our portfolio of patents and today's release indicates they are doing just that. Feel assured they didn't walk into IDC and say we need a license.

Some may question why I have Alcatel in the above list because they are already licensed. Well my little black book doesn't show me they paid us a dime toward TDMA but cost all of the share holders money to protect our patents as well as precious time lost in our licensing program. I will continue my efforts and only be happy when the fat lady sings. She will be singing when Mot , ERICY , Philips sign the dotted line. They have all hindered IDC's progress by choosing litigation instead of negotiation..

On the dark side a earlier post related a problem communicating with IDC with a potential customer and not having the phone call returned. I discussed that post earlier today with a good friend and he afforded this . He said imagine a analyst or a fund manager calling IDC. They would call and ask for the CFO and the operator would say I'm sorry sir we don't have one. He then would ask for the CEO and she would respond I'm sorry sir we don't have on of those either. At last resort he asks for investors relations and gets connected to someone's voice mail.

Well I have posted the good the bad and the ugly but I love this stock right now . Just imagine there are only 2500 share holders as stated in the SEC filing . When the buying starts it's going to be fun because the long timers like myself , Bill, Charles , Sam , Jean Roper and many others I talk to are going for a long ride.

Jim
