Richard Walker says that no action was taken against any of the microcap companies identified, because it is not illegal to pay for stock promotion.

It seems the SEC just wants paid promoters to disclose compensation:-)

In every case, the SEC alleged the defendants did not adequately disclose that they received compensation in the form of cash, stock or stock options to promote the stock.

Wall Street Journal says microcap hazards exposed in SEC tout sweep
American Copper Corp ACC

Monday Nov 2 1998

The Wall Street Journal reports in its Monday edition that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission's first coordinated attack on Internet investing fraud, disclosed last week, highlighted hazards in another area, microcap stocks. Reporter Judith Burns says that although no microcap companies were charged in the Internet sweep, all 23 cases filed by the SEC involved individuals and companies promoting microcap stocks. In every case, the SEC alleged the defendants did not adequately disclose that they received compensation in the form of cash, stock or stock options to promote the stock. Among those named in the sweep were Liberty Capital and Jason Greig of Bellingham, Washington. The SEC alleges Mr. Greig did not fully disclose receiving $1.2-million (U.S.) in cash and stock from at least seven microcap companies. SEC enforcement director Richard Walker says that no action was taken against any of the microcap companies identified, because it is not illegal to pay for stock promotion.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Mr. Metals is a little more well known than you and I know.

What reputable promoter is on SI all the time hyping and bashing stocks?

I wouldn't give a dime to these jokers to promote my company. What was the name of his dinky company again?

1. The bully has power, so we should let him do what he wants?
Probably because he can do a lot of damage without
any factual information to prove his points. Doesn't
seem fair. I can't do much except terrorize his picks,
and I really don't want to hurt innocent people.
2. We should be nice to him, because he has power?
Well you have been. I tried to be.I even tried to keep from being
kicked off SI the first time. I finally gave in after getting swamped
with requests. I wish I had the time to
go over my old posts. I didn't mind opposing views,
but he has deliberately tried to bash the stock to the point
of slander and harrassment.
3. Most of us here bought under .13. The company was
honest IMO and really doesn't deserve the treatment
they have gotten. I don't know how much they are or will be worth,
but I believe it's a lot more than .13.
4. There are lots of pennies I don't like, but I have other
fish to catch so I really can't understand why he spends so much time attacking the company. If I had given any real evidence
that the company is a fraud, I would have sold a long time ago.
I have made dozens of calls and IMO they are legit. They are just
small company just trying to make money mining their leases
in Canada.

I received a telephone call today from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service Technician who was conducting a test on our telephone lines.

He stated that to complete the test I should touch nine (9), zero (0), the pound sign (#) and then hang up.

Luckily, I was suspicious and refused.

Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which allows them to place long distance telephone calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed that this scam has been originating from many of the local jails/prisons. I have also
verified this information with UCB telecomm, Pacific Bell, MCI, Bell
Atlantic, GTE and NYNEX.

Please beware.

DO NOT press 90# for ANYONE. The GTE Security Department requested that I share this information with EVERYONE (except SMITH..LOL) I KNOW. PLEASE pass this on to everyone YOU know. If you have mailing lists and/or newsletters from organizations you are connected with, I encourage you to pass on this information to them, too.
