John,

Excellent article. This may be off topic, but it is related. Some of these people approach you by sending an email link to a company site. They ask for advice on buying the company's IPO. Some are honest people and some are scam artists. In cyberspace, it is hard to sort out the good guys from the bad guys. I give these guys some advice about being careful on IPO's and scam artists. I usually never hear from them again.

The ones that get me are the news letters touting some penny stock. Those are the ones, that nail the poor guys looking for a miracle to solve financial problems. It's hard enough trying to make some money in legal investments or trading with out those scum suckers preying on innocent or desperate people. I love forwarding their mailings to the SEC. It only takes a few seconds. I hope that if enough people do it, it will discourage some people from entering the scam business.

Everyone should read the Fortune article for their own protection.
