Picked this up from Dell site:

expressindia.com

India has nearly a billion people and is much farther along than China.

The deregulation of ISPs bodes well for CSCO, ASND, COMS - whoever gets there first. If only one in eight Indians is "middle class", that exceeds the total population of Japan.

Brazil is another "dark horse". AS the TBR infrastructure is modernized and telephone penetration grows, another potential market develops.

My timeline - India and China through 2000-2001. By then Asia will be back on its feet and will need IT infrastructure to compete. Thus will come the upgrades to SE ASia in 2002 and beyond. Look for Russia to have its house in order by about 2005 and the market should pick up there. Thus, the growth potential is there, albeit slowing gradually depending on technology improvements/bandwith demand which may keep driving the replacement/upgrade market.

Aloha,

Don
