Dan,

I agree with the three points you made, but for the past couple of days what's amazing is nobody sees a value play in Cien-- going into and through 1999. As one analyst said: "the stock sure wasn't worth $90, but it sure wasn't worth just $8". So with earning prospects picking up, some contracts, and an excellent technology development team this stock was grossly undervalued; and perhaps some institutions knew the selloff had been overdone.
