I'd say that if go2net is a serious internet business they should make an effort to establish these peering relationships, or obtain connectivity through someone that does have good peering. That's why I'm a big fan of above.net, they think that the core of their business is based on good connectivity and good connectivity can only be established with multiple peering relationships. So they have them

The ideal solution is not for go2net to purchase leased lines from one provider, or setup private interconnects with multiple providers, unless they want to get into the ISP business. The real solution is for go2net to co-locate servers with a superior provider who not only has their own backbone but also has multiple private peering agreements within that facility and other end-points throughout the US. In other words, 1 hop you can be connected to MCI/WorldComm or Sprint, or GTE or JoeISP, etc... Co-location is the way to go now-a-days.
