1st, in response to Frank's q -- the bottom line for Birck is that he won't do a big deal for a while. A big deal would consist of buying a co. big enough that their (the acquiree's) mgmt. might think they would have the last word on a topic, especially related to their biz. Birck expects the buck to stop w/ him. A hypo. situation would be if TLAB had purchased CIEN, and Nettles (CIEN's CEO) wanted to pursue a certain K a certain way, and wouldn't care how Birck wanted to do it b/c it would've been a CIEN K. Birck intends to make all decisions (like a CEO should). 2nd, in response to Dave -- can't think of anything that spooked the audience. Both TLAB sessions were pretty well attended, but don't think they impacted the stock price. I think people's speculating re TLAB buying CIEN or PAIR caused the stock to tank -- S.
