<models are based on intermarket relationships which began to deteriorate in late July>

I'm not surprised; that seemed to be a common experience amongst those at the User's Meeting. I also noticed the models were breaking down but fortunately I was not trading them. Once I returned from a vacation in August my day-trading luck exploded (positively) and that coupled with other things resulted in putting Profit on the back burner for a time.

It was good to find that other user models broke down during that period. I sensed the underlying market changes affected the models ability but there was always the possibility that it was my error.

It appears some of the users are having some success incorporating VIX and Put-Call relationships, by the way. I do not know if you have tried that at all; I intend to run some tests using these variables.

<pick up a lot reading what you and the others in the forum are watching>

Seems to me the others are the real technical experts; for my own part, trading the futures, I sense, comes down more to confidence and perhaps a little bit of psychology. However, the others (particularly Tom and Ground Zero) are rooted in trading from a system and so it has helped me more than it may appear. Prior to running into Tom I never would have considered trading a system that required an overnight hold on a futures position.

After 6 or 7 months I still do not, but at least I am considering it. Slow to change, I suppose. If you are considering trading the spoo or the small then drop in from time to time. Quite honestly, it's not easy to get involved in trading futures without a few others to bounce thoughts off of. I think that's what the thread sets up for very well.

I imagine to the casual observer the thread appears like a bunch of people just sitting around speculating on what one or the other may do but there is a reason behind each trade each person puts on. I think we each just "know" how the others think and so there may not be much explanation as to why one trade is put on over another.
