Election Fraud: Obstacle to Peaceful Change
by Eric Klien

On December 31, 1991, I left my job as a computer programmer to
retire in sunny income-tax-free Las Vegas. I got quickly bored
and therefore became involved in local politics. My efforts
gradually intensified with my backing the campaigns of James Dan
for Assembly and Tamara Clark for State Senate in the November
1992 general election in Nevada. I figured the best way to make
peaceful change in the US was through the election process.

In Tamara's race we were perplexed why her opponent, Democratic
incumbent Ray Schaffer, was allowing himself to be out-fund-
raised and out-spent in the general campaign. When a local
disgruntled voter had put "pension piggie" stickers on the
campaign signs of all the incumbents who had voted themselves
higher pensions last term, he alone didn't bother removing those
stickers. We wondered why the only mailing he did during the
general campaign was to the women in his district saying that he
was good on women's issues when his opponent was a woman. We
wondered why a local columnist predicted two weeks before the
election that Tamara would lose 55% to 45% when she was ahead in
the polls (This prediction was within 1/2 of 1%).

The answer became apparent to us in the days after the election-
there had been massive election fraud. Election fraud had cut off
my only peaceful avenue of change in the US.

I personally became suspicious of election fraud when three
separate phone calls to the election department all generated the
same answer-they wouldn't even tell me the number of absentee
ballots cast in Tamara's race. Such information was supposed to
be public knowledge according to law.

We found in a sample mailing to 4000 registered voters that one
third of them didn't exist and that nearly one half of them had
voted in the election. That ballots were re-punched by the
election department after people had voted on them. That there
was a secret transfer point where all tainted elections went
through. That this transfer point was the only one that had a
computer compatible with the one that ran the election; all the
official transfer points did not have such computers. That 90,000
ballots were processed after the ballot checkers were sent home.
We also discovered that there was no accountability for the
ballots-those voted, spoiled, destroyed and unused-no bottom
line balance sheet. There were no adequate safeguards against
cards voted by voters being replaced by cards "voted" outside the
electorate. No way to verify absentee ballot counts. No adequate
procedures to validate vote counting programs. No comprehensive
audit trail that would allow meaningful recounts.

We discovered that people who did not order absentee ballots
received them in the mail anyway. That people who did order
absentee ballots did not receive them. That people went to vote
and found their names were stamped ABSENTEE in the voter register
book, even though they did not request an absentee ballot (Some
pets were alleged to have voted in the last election). That the
local Culinary Union requested 30,000 absentee ballots and
regularly submitted them to the election department in batches of
hundreds. That thousands of people who registered by the mail and
had never been seen in person by any government agency voted via
absentee ballot. That twice as many ballots as needed were
printed and that the security around these ballots was lax. That
there was a mysterious arrival of a batch of absentee ballots at
3 AM, two hours after the election checkers were sent home.

Of course, the election department has never released an official
count of absentee ballots cast. These unseen, unlisted and
unknown voters are like some privileged class. They cannot be
challenged as is the case of every other voter-and if there was a
need for the public to be allowed to check the validity of
voters, it is here among the absentee voters.

This investigation of election fraud could have gone much further
if there had been shown to be a use for such an investigation.
But with our investigators being followed and getting death
threats combined with the total lack of concern by federal
agencies and the media, our spirits eventually waned. We
presented five boxes of evidence to the Nevada State Senate,
whose leaders decided they were too "tired" to look at the
evidence. Our evidence shown to media outlets such as 20/20 was
generally immediately returned with comments such as "due to our
schedule, we are not able to look into your suggestion at this
time". And when the local FBI branch was presented with evidence
that the post office wouldn't deliver mail for the Republicans
but was willing to deliver mail for the Democrats (the evidence
was printed in the local paper), they denied that any federal
election violation had occurred.

I admit that the election fraud in Nevada was a little less
blatant than it is in places like Chicago where they escort
drunks into voting booths to vote tens of times each per
election, but it was bad enough to end the careers of almost all
the responsible politicians in Nevada. Every assemblyman who
voted against the unconstitutional business tax that was recently
passed was removed from office. Many of them got phone calls the
day before the election telling them exactly what their voting
results were going to be. Again and again, the people who wanted
bigger government got into office no matter who the polls said
was going to win the election.

Election fraud is rampant throughout the US. If you don't believe
me, please investigate the results of the next general election
in your area. You will be shocked at what you find. You will
discover facts in the same hard way that former president Jimmy
Carter did in his recent book Turning Point. In this book after
uncovering massive election fraud used against him when he ran
for State Senate, Jimmy mentioned that a local State Senator
jokingly proposed a law prohibiting people from voting more than
three years after their death. Thanks to election fraud, I no
longer had a peaceful way to implement change in the US, and
because this avenue of change was cut off, the Atlantis Project
was born.

Hey, David, there was a great cartoon in our paper the morning after the election. It was a picture of a guy standing over a grave with a bouquet of flowers and, as he looked down at the grave, he said "I thought you might like to know who you voted for". Is that a hoot! Even the Republicans couldn't intimidate THAT voter <g>!
