You can get info on RDRAM on toms.hardware.com

My understanding of RDRAM is that it has lousy latency issues but extremely high bandwidth. Its high bandwidth makes it ideal for (useless) AGP purposes. That's why Intel's supporting it.

It's an idea conceived when memory cost and arm and a leg, and video cards with more than 2MB were $400+.

Tom's page shows benchmarks comparing RDRAM to SDRAM and other varieties of DRAM (if memory serves). The results show that performance in most applications depends more on low latency than high bandwidth (except in games using system memory for the video card through AGP). Thus RDRAM will be slower for most purposes, and slower in games that don't spill over from video ram into system ram.

But I read the review a long time ago...

OT -- What an absolutely beautiful day! I'm making over 30% on my TDFX holdings and am very likely to make more. And more than money, what makes me happy is being RIGHT! Being right in this case applies to my analysis of VISX which I brought to you last Thursday night. You could have bought the sucker even cheaper than I. In fact just today, even after the good news was announced, you could have bought it as low as 46.5 but probably at 49. It closed the day up 6 1/2 at 54.25. Read my last two posts on AoI thread on my investing techniques and how I got into this position. They are a continuation of my notes on when to sell. BTW, the TDFX action was also nice, but me takes more pride when me calls the contrary trend :D
