Hammer = strong open. Closes in the lower end of the trading range on more than average volume. (I think! -g-)

Candlestick crud. opens high the closes at a daily low. Hence the name -- shape like a hammer. Supposedly ominous when the high is a new one and the low is lower than the high of the previous day.

What does it mean? Absolutely nothing. Happened on the POS when I bought puts at 36. The next day was a down day. The day after that it was back up and through 36

BTW. BBY looks like a good short here.

I think it is the same as a head and shoulder only you use it to beat the dog s%^t out a POS stock to make it go down. In other words I aint got no friggin idea what it is and they don't either.(g)
