DELL is the pioneer and leader in the industry and others are now trying to follow. Yet, it all comes down to the ability to execute. I think many of us know who will continue to lead the industry. DELL is committed to re-inventing its processes and constant and never ending improvement. The bar is being raised all of the time. Here is a new zdnet article on this topic:

<<MICRON, GATEWAY ADVANCE ONLINE SERVICE
Chasing online leader Dell, Micron Electronics and
Gateway announced new customer-service initiatives.
Micron intends to "Webify" its entire business,
including a redesigned Web site with more interaction
between company and customers. Micron also
announced sweeping price cuts and an unusual move
to bundle Beta 3 of Windows 2000 (NT 5.0) as an
option on its ClientPro desktops and NetFrame servers
as soon as the software is released. Click for more.
Gateway, meanwhile, announced a new Web site
designed for its Your:)Ware program, which helps
computer shoppers research, purchase and obtain
online loan approval to finance a Gateway PC. Bottom
line: Some companies are discovering they can give
customers better service online than they can in
person. >>
