From cbs.marketwatch.com (emphasis mine):

Shares of telecommunications equipment maker Ciena Corp. (CIEN) dragged as BancBoston Robertson Stephens quelled takeover speculation and forecast a negative fourth-quarter sales surprise. Analyst Paul Silverstein said he doesn't believe the acquisition rumors that pushed shares higher over the past four sessions have any basis. Silverstein also told clients the company will likely "struggle to make current Street consensus revenue estimates" in the current quarter. However, the analyst expects a substantial backlog to generate strong earnings in the first quarter of 1999. Shares fell 3 to 18 13/16.
