RE--Poll time---Take a chunk of money---
Rebalance the percentage funds every six months, or every year, to fit your outlook on the current stock market.

currently
Vanguard 500 Index Fund 15%
Vanguard Mid-Cap Index Fund 15%
Vanguard Small-Cap Growth Index Fund 70%

This is a conservative (chicken-type) bet on the market.

I'm pushing small cap % way up because I think they will outperform for a while. How long? I have no idea.

I think the market will outperform cash over the next 6 months to a year because---

1. The Fed Reserve has lowered rates in Sep and Oct, a strong signal for a rising market.

2. Stock market is usually positive in the year following a non-Presidential election.

I have no reliable ideas on which specific stocks or groups will outperform.

But I think at least part of a person's investable funds could be used as indicated above. If you don't like Vanguard, use some other no-load, low-cost fund family.

Regards,

Larry

That's short term.
