I've read this kind of share holder's right plan announced from some other companies. But I do not quite understand what kind of protection we get, and how it works. Anyone would care to explain?

This is an extremely interesting development given the existing anti-takeover measures that the BOD has already taken. In fact, we have discussed them here as recently as July:

There is only one obvious conclusion from this plan that I can see, (unless we are all buying at a break neck pace through the same broker).
