ALTERN8, I wasn't ripping on vinyl. I know it's still out there (have a friend that produced several 45's) and have always liked the way it sounded, but you do have to admit digital music does have its advantages. Could you get the vinyl sound if you burned it to a CD? Is the underground music on vinyl because it sounds better and cheaper or because it's hip and cool. I saw an R.E.M. 45 at Best Buy today, that's why I ask.

I agree ...kinda...Years ago I upgraded my audio to MacIntosh amp, Klipsck speakers, Technics 12oo direct drive turntable...etc. NOw my only problem was that with all this super-duper audio stuff I could "hear what I had been missing" before which unfortunately with the quality of record production being somewhat lack-luster...I now heard every snap..crackle..pop..that was on the records here to fore unheard..So although vinyl does have some merits, I am sticking to CD....much cleaner thank you!!!
