News release:Taurus to start drill programs in Quebec and Nevada International Taurus Resources Inc ITS Shares issued 28,530,403 Jan 25 close $0.28 Tue 26 Jan 99 News Release Mr. Robert Blakestad reports Contracts for drilling have been let and drilling is scheduled to commence during the week of Feb. 8, 1999 on the Martiniere D gold prospect in the Detour Lake-Selbaie region of the Northern Abitibi belt in Quebec and the Lyon copper property in Western Nevada. The Abitibi is one of the most prolific gold and base metal environments in the world, with more than 150 million ounces of gold production and more than 500 million tons of high-grade copper-zinc production. The principal target at Martinere D is gold mineralization in mafic volcanic rocks and quartz porphyry intrusives associated with a northeast splay off the Detour deformation zone. Previous work resulted in the intersection of 12.5 grams per tonne over 2.5 metres and 1.07 g/t gold over 12 metres in two separate intercepts in a discovery hole drilled by Cyprus Canada Inc. in 1997. This hole has never been followed up with additional drilling. The company is planning to drill a minimum of nine additional holes totalling 2,000 metres to expand this initial discovery during the upcoming program. At the Lyon copper project, the program will target a zone of high-grade copper mineralization in the Northwest deposit. Previous work by senior geologists with Cyprus Metals Exploration, a subsidiary of Cyprus Amex Minerals Company, has estimated a mineral inventory of 3.0 million tons grading 3.45 per cent copper with associated gold and silver. The primary target is an area of previous intercepts, including 173 feet grading 4.54 per cent copper and 58 feet grading 4.98 per cent copper in holes USS 44 and USS 59. The goal is the definition of a high-grade starter deposit that will justify development and be the basis for a low-cost operation, A total indicated and inferred resource of 12.1 million tons grading 3.41 per cent copper with magnetite, gold and silver credits has been estimated in previous work by Cyprus Metals Exploration in three high-grade skarn deposits at Lyon. In addition, more than 350 million tons grading 0.50 per cent copper and 30 per cent iron in magnetite is estimated to be present in three potential open pit deposits.
