c|net, businessweek online, newsbytes all carried articles the 27th and 28th [look at wave's home page under news&events]

Also, industry.java.sun.com is a nice java related page.

So it has been mentioned, just not that much in the WSJ/FT mainstream press.

Someday soon though.....

CNET did pick up the story on 10/27, the evening of the announcement. It was front page 1st article under the 3 main stories (w/pictures). Problem is, the article was there only after about 5:30pm and removed by the next morning. So, probably not too many folks saw it.

Marc:

I did pose the Media Lab question because of your profile.

On the basis that the Media Lab is one of the places that most people would concede is on the cutting edge of "what's happening" in the information technology world, and on the basis that some of the leading prognosticators of the future of related areas, such as e-commerce, (Dr.Negroponte, etc.) are at or are associated with the Lab, I thought it would be interesting to see whether or not what WE think was big news had penetrated even that far.

If it hadn't, which it apparently didn't, it would appear that such knowledge would indicate that we will have quite a while to wait before the world at large learns about WAVX to the point of acknowledgement through action or stock price appreciation. If those that are allegedly at the forefront of IT and e-commerce development have not yet really had the message thrust in front of them, we certainly will have to be patient and wait for the rest of the world to hear and take notice. Further, if they had taken notice of it and greeted it with a great big yawn, we might be off on a non-productive tangent - but that has apparently not happened either.

I guess it means we must patiently wait and see as the information begins to spread throughout the industry.

Thanks for the response

Steve

Right Marc...

There's this sorry habit of valorizing academia. It's a business. If I expected something special from a bunch of _ucked up middle class college students and their little artificially intelligent mentors (like Minsky) on where to place to my bets on Wall Street.. Shit, I might as well start looking into Gerry's crystal ball.

If you must rely on something, rely on your own brain powers of evaluation. Looking too much to others for validation is perhaps one more sign of an inveterate laziness and arrested development we might recognize and forgive within ourselves; to try to overcome till the day we crap out.

Sincerely,
Marty
