JIM,

I don't think AMD is dumping chips at all. AMD's ASP is around $100.. Cryix's ASP for the quarter is likely to be around $65.. both companies are making money, because by various calculations the chips they are selling cost between $35 and $55 to make..

The problem is that INTC has historically overcharged (in terms of what we are now seeing) for their products. NSM and AMD's CPU cores are very comparable in terms of die size of the K6 and MII. IDTI is crap.. So if I was selling Betty Smith a system I would show her a basic configuration with differnt processor options and let HER choose. Ofcourse I would and could give guidance to her as to which would best suit a particular application..

Steve

PS I do sell boxes to betty smith's all the time, or rather design the boxes call retail friends and have them sell my EXACT configuration.
