I just caught the end of Silicon Valley Business report on TV. There was a great presentation of the product .Markman was there too.

"As near to perfect as one can get"
"General Magic, a great comeback in the making"

Bob-
I think thinking that a carrier is signed up is WAY too optimistic. IMHO.. there is NO way that we went from "several carriers have just begun talks/trials with us" in July to a carrier announcement only 3 months later. I believe that perhaps they may have been securing additional finiancing.. or perhaps trying to space out news/filings.. but carriers are way to early..

On the issue of the Webley advertising..
In my research I saw that Webley started advertising in trade press two weeks before GMGC announced their advertising. and began their national campaign. That Webley has moved to select radio spots doesnt mean to me that they are playing catch up. As a matter of fact.. I think that GMGC's burning money on national print before capturing the trade press seems a little bit too heavy? This is just based on my experience with past tech products.. the ones that got the reviewers and the tech writers writing about them first.. then had them go for the national press for them seemed to go through cash at a slower rate and have a more efficient bang for the buck.

All of this is still IMHO.. so people feel free to castrate me.. ;-)
I stillm think Portico has great potential.. and I think the race for the carriers will tell the winner in this market, but I am distressed by the "laughing off" of a 10 million a quarter burn rate...

Cheers,
JC
