Yousef, WEll the thing is that saying that the HP design team will do a good job on McKinley because they did a good job on the PA8500 is like the folks around here saying that the K7 will have an alpha like FPU because of who designed it.. I mean it doesn't follow.. there are too many differences.. for example the brand-prediction technology that goes into the 8500 is completely useless in a VLIW setup. Also the 8500 is only running at 360 Mhz.. I mean that's not that impressive all things considered. Is the team good; yes. Great? Hard to say, but they haven't really impressed me with the 8500. In fact without the 1.5Megs on chip I would be willing to bet that there is likely only a 15% improvement in core performance. Steve
