>What would you say caused this sudden spike of +4 1/8 today ?<

I'm guessing short covering? I sure didn't buy enough shares to make it run like this on my own. The company does look pretty darn solid though so I don't think 20 will be out of the question again in the future. Have you read this press release from August?

Company Press Release

New Contract for GTII

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 1998--Golden Triangle
Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:GTII - news)of Albuquerque is pleased to announce that a contract for the sale of sand and gravel from its property in Altair, Texas was signed with Mike Arnold Trucking & Material Co.

The contract will pay royalty payments of $0.80 per ton on sand that is stockpiled. GTII will be paid $0.50 per ton for sand that is mined. Every six months the royalty payment will be adjusted if necessary to compensate GTII if the average sales price of sand increases.

Management estimates that there is approximately 2 million tons of sand currently stockpiled with an additional 8-12 million tons that can be mined. GTII will deduct any screening costs, if necessary, but is guaranteed no less than $0.40 per ton for the stockpiled sand.

GTII will be paid $0.70 per ton for any gravel that is mined from the Altair property. Management estimates that there is approximately 5-8 million tons of gravel that can be mined from the Altair property.

Corporate Office Moving to Houston

GTII will be moving its corporate office to the Houston area within the next 2 months. With the company's operations growing rapidly in the Houston area, management feels it is necessary to relocate the corporate office to be closer to the company's main activities.

Shareholders will be notified of the company's new address and phone number once they have been established. Management feels this is a very positive move for the company as its continues to grow.

Looking at that press release GTII could make a lot of money from simply selling sand and gravel. According to the last quarterly report the company was expecting to see further improvements in revenues and net income as the year progresses:

Looked good today. I have been following the stock for a few months and now with earnings close at hand, I guess I picked a good time to jump in.

We seem to be in something of a holding pattern. That's really not too bad for a company in the natural gas and oil business these days. Thing is GTII is a little different than the other guys. This company has got some huge sand and gravel reserves that are now being shipped out to the rapidly growing Houston area.
