ted--wanted you to see the last senctence!

I agree that SEEK is putting strong partnerships in place, just was clarifying that Lycos and Bertelsmann are alread partners and that this announcement was NOT about Bertelsmann.

IMHO the hook-up with Deutsche Telekom is more interesting than the Springer aspect of this announcement. DT still controls the phone lines in Germany (despite growing efforts to deregulate) -- DT is likely to be a much more powerful force in that society for bringing people online than their counterparts in the US market (AT&T, etc) -- different kind of culture. Similarly in France, the French phone company controls Minitel and is likely to drive conversion from that service to the Internet -- as they get their act together.

Europe is going to be the fastest growing Internet market in 1999 -- SEEK is smart to have strong partners in Germany, the EU region which seems to be adopting the Internet the most quickly. Once the walls come down, those partners will take SEEK all over the EU.
