1) what are virtual files and how do they work with Metastock. I assume that QP2 can export data into a MS compatible format, so why the "virtual" file? For one thing, the Virtual files save space on the hard drive. You can have lots of directories and use a minimum of space. Also, Virtual directories can be automatically created with scans. You don't have to output or convert files. It's done after the scan, automatically. 2) I take it that QP2 can do sophisticated technical scans if one can master the programing (macro?) language. What is the advantage of scans in QP2 vs those in MS Explorer? Can the output of scans be easily sent to a MS directory for charting? QP scans are MUCH faster than Metastock scans -- so much faster that there's no comparison. Quotes Plus, in my opinion, is an essential companion to Metastock. You can zip through scans in QP and output to Metastock only those stocks whose charts you want to look at more closely. QP scans don't just save time -- they make money, by giving you the ability to spend your time concentrating on a specific list.3) The file (chart) management capabilities of MS are very poor in my opinion. Does QP2 offer any advantages? One advantage is that you can create lists based on industry groups, and compare a stock's performance to the group. For saving charts and templates with a wide variety of indicators, you'll need Metastock, too. 4) How good are the charting capabilities of QP2? QP offers some good indicators in its charts. It also provides lots of fundamental data. That's one great strength: the fundamental data, including QRS (or relative strength). I think you'll want to use QP2 along with Metastock. You'll continue to use Metastock for its wide variety of indicators, for custom indicators and for system tests. Brooke
