Paul,

Intel has an Engineering Design Group in Fort Collins, Colorado working right along with the HP engineers on the "forthcoming" McKinley chip.

Maybe the HP engineers will teach Intel how to architect a real microprocessor. Are they going to lose the x86 baggage in McKinley?

Oh, yeah, Intel is hiring. They just hired me last month, and there were about 10 of us in the new employee orientation. 'Course that's just here, and we're a software division and don't have much to do with the chip side of things...but I can also tell you we were the first to lose heads when Intel started cutting back earlier this year.

I was a contractor then, and I was lucky to make it through. But for now, I think you're right. The company is expanding again, albeit cautiously.
