This effort is at least 18n months old - so Intel has been planning this for a long time. Re: " Is this some sort of strange partnership with MSFT bc MSFT is going to be too slow to do it by themselves?" Intel has many partnerships with Microsoft and this is one of them. When Intel's Katmai and Microsoft's DirectX 6.1 are released, you will see another product of their cooperation. Paul
