Hi!

As companies mature their betas trend towards 1.0, but because Dell has not been very volatile recently should not be taken as an indication that its beta is lower. Typically, betas are measured using three to five years of data.

Perhaps what you are referring to is th implied volatility from the Balck-Schoales model.
