The whole thing is suspect, at this point. The absorption of sales by the specialist, in the last 3 weeks, would seem to support your belief that they were being held in inventory for a quick sale at a higher price level. Otherwise, why would he hold onto the stock?
Your doubts about Seagate's profits are also correct. Seagate hasn't made a profit it has only reported losses. There are to many disk drives and disk drive manuf. out there too. They just came out with the 17 gig. Medalist, a cheapee, so they are still competing on the lower end. Not something that would raise their margins which they claim is a goal this year. By the way, I never heard of the Medalist line. However, I must add that I know nothing about the economics of the DD industry.
