*AV*--it wasn't only APM that move up. We got some good action on RDRT, their major competitor as well as some of the DD companies themselves like WDC.

I will have to revist this since the DD stocks fell out of favor with me and were taken out of rotation. It was not until WDC hit my scan list did I do some preliminary checking.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear but I am out of touch with this sector for the moment. The Telecom sector has rotated onto my radar screen. You can't kiss ever princess that comes along. It does mean that I have to revisit the DD sector and determine if we are seeing a turnaround finally.

Just off the cuff, I was preparing for the PC guys to start trailing off after delivery of this season's holiday systems. What I did not factor in is the advances in drive capacity made over this past year and the dramatic price drops for these drives. We might be seeing a pick as these companies try to make up earnings with volume. Do you see people going out this XMAS and upgrading hard drives along with buying new systems??? An interesting concerpt to ponder, don't you think?

I will probably formulate an opinion over the weekend. However, based on the information available and the trading volume, I cannot say that losing 86 cents versus a expected $2 loss would be greeted with such jubilation. A wild guess based on history and these volumes would be that we may see another round og the RDRT/APM acquition soap opera.
The market is not large enough to support both companies so a merger would be in their combined best interests. That is an opinion rther than my trying to revive merger rumors. Finally, I will make a few calls and see if there is any new product or head assembly on the way to being introduced.
