If I did not have my money on the line here, I could get a good laugh out of all this crap.

from CNNFN: <<Finally, among the few stocks trading on the
downside, shares of Qualcomm (QCOM) dropped
5/8 to 36-1/16, failing to please investors even after
an earnings report that beat expectations. >>

Geez, we make it to the big page, to rub elbows with Cisco, Intel and all the big boys only to be to told we did not beat expectations by enough!! Add insult to injury, they cant even get the damn price right.

And another thing, how many times will they invite Dr. J. if he keeps acting like a wet rag? And how come we always seem to report good news (and thus fall) on days when the market is chomping at the bit to go higher?

Oh well... Death, taxes and the Q falling on good news. At least you can count on some things, too bad they all cramp my style!

I really think Dr. J was in an almost "no win" type situation.

If he had said (or implied) "Let's not talk about baseball; we invented and own a technology that is literally changing the world (and -- that MSFT felt they HAD to join forces with)," well, then he would look bad.

But, if he goes along with the pseudo-"folksy" tone of the questioning, then we all get irritated at the lost opportunity to (in effect) boast or "spout off."

I think we were bound to be ticked off, no matter what.

(I bet a 15 minute segment would work MUCH better, but, it will probably only happen when QCOM is priced like Coca Cola (and we will all probably have already sold our shares to those idiots at mutual funds who have the words "portfolio manager" printed on their business card )).

Jon.

RS and all - **** slightly OT****

What on earth is wrong with Merrill Lynch:-

abcnews.com

They have this Ms Cullen who is very down on the World. 40% allocation to stocks and apparently they did the same in 1996 and 1997.

I hope Mr G doesn't say very much today. I'm sure he means well but the last few times he's been to the Hill the market didn't react very well so I just wish he could cancel with a cold or headache or a dentist appointment or something. Sure we need him to stop the occasional crash and he did a good job a couple of Thursday ago and caught a whole bunch of shorters and burned them good.

ON TOPIC

MSFT great simply fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye bye Scandanvians your goose is being cooked.

L
