Marty, I think if she says yes, it'll just be confirming the obvious. I think any high end drive that WDC makes at this point will be using RDRT as a head supplier unless it's an IBM sponsored program.

It would be nice if RDRT made an announcement though of their first successful program win for an enterprise drive. It would add a little fuel to the fire.

I spoke to Quantum this morning and they will be showing a functioning prototype SDLT drive. I think this is an exciting opportunity for Read Rite. They suggested this head could contribute an additional 10% to revenues. This should have an even greater benefit to profits as the cost of a clustered tape head is at least 10 times that of a drive head, if not even 30 times (this is a paraphrase from my memory of the Conference Call).

Regards, Mark

PS Has anybody noticed the open interest in RDRT puts? JAN 7.5 (.LJWMU) 10850 and JAN 5 (.ZJWMA) 10744. These are for Jan 2000 and Jan 2001 respectively. I don't know that it means anything, but it's a curiously high figure. If you sold these puts when the price was low, this would be a very profitable position.
