I took my first ever position in AMD at todays high. My reasoning is simply that 18 months ago if anyone thought that a company could take 20% of INTC's market share away he would have been considered crazy. AMD has done better than that. I think the only way INTC can stop this encroachment is to hurt margins and I think that grove's successors own too much stock to want to take the hit the stock would suffer as a result. I'm no tech guy but I know that the celeron was supposed to stop AMD et al and it hasn't. IF Amd can increase production efficiencies I'll make a lot of money. If not I made a big mistake.

Steve - Re: " I was going to take a position in Intel this AM but the large gap up and quick rise has caused me to wait another day or two."

Tomorrow may be a better day to buy Intel.

Of course, yesterday was a better day to buy Intel as well.
