I am just guessing, but I took a position too. The Fed's credit position helps the group, and lots of performance laggards are being bid up. Check out the chart on ARTT. These guys have an interesting WCOM-like strategy, but on a local level. The question is: does that work? Also, will these ILEC's in data joint ventures dump them once they figure out how to do data (what ever century that is). Finally is the recrip. compensation issue. When does the money go away? Bottom line, it looks like it is worth the risk here. They do need to stop buying companies, and digest them better.
