I would have to disagree about CSCO tomorrow. My charts show it going to $68's. The only thing that might snuff that out is Greeny. CSCO is looking to blow out its 52 wk high and has no reason to pull back right now. No one will sell a stock like this with this kind of momentum in the markets. CSCO's earnings report shows there is no weakness and techs are flying. This combination will push CSCO to new highs for sure. IMO we could see 70 by end of week.

Gary,

NOVL-LU deal on directory services should be ready to ship mid-year 1999.

<<MSFT and CSCO will have a completed AD product (complete meaning the directory will include CSCO product schema) well before LU/Novell does. LU and Novell just announced the partnership. It's going to take them at least a year to add the LU products to that directory.>>

You're saying that MAD will be ready, tried, and tested with full funtionality by then? I guess time will tell.

Regards,

QuadK

Novell nabs Nortel for NDS

By Scott Berinato, PC Week Online

Chalk up another win for NDS.

For Novell, it's another partnership win in a very public fight to get Cisco Systems Inc. to license NDS. Such a partnership would result in directory-based management and policy networking with Cisco hardware in NetWare environments. Without the partnership, managing Cisco hardware via the directory will be difficult at best, users
have said. <b/>

Novell gains more steam

Novell is thought to have an advantage in directory technology, a service that comes with each purchase of its
NetWare operating system software.

"First and foremost, Novell has leadership--we're seeing a better Novell," Lewis said. "Even if it's perceived
momentum, it's an incredibly important and vital thing for them to do."

But some believe Cisco may be rethinking its approach to directory services software-technology--which
aspires to be the organizational mechanism for the Net--given Microsoft's slew of delays in delivering its
Windows 2000 upgrade, formerly known as NT 5.0.

Cisco, Novell to collaborate on Novell Directory Services

PC Week

By Scott Berinato, ZDNet

LAS VEGAS -- It's not the deal, but it is a deal.

After months of negotiation, Cisco Systems Inc. and Novell Inc. are expected to announce at Comdex here Wednesday that they will work together to integrate Novell Directory Services (NDS) with Cisco networking hardware, according to sources close to the companies.

To underscore the commitment, the companies will demonstrate at Novell's Comdex booth a new technology that enables NDS to store networking hardware configurations in the directory and automatically distribute those configurations to any network device by way of a Java applet.

Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO) will not license NDS as part of the deal, as many users were hoping. But the companies have agreed that any extensions made for Cisco products in the standard Directory Enabled Networking (DEN) schema will be made available to Novell (Nasdaq:NOVL) to apply to NDS, sources close to Cisco said. This will enable NDS to fully manage DEN-enabled Cisco hardware.

Sources said the Novell partnership does not affect Cisco's development of Cisco Networking Services for Active Directory (CNS/AD), forthcoming software services that are based on Microsoft's directory service, which is due as part of Windows 2000 next year.

Novell and Cisco have not set a target date for releasing their yet to-be-named technology.

COMDEX, LAS VEGAS, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its leadership in directory-enabled networking, Novell®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVL - news), today demonstrated newly developed Internet management technology based on Novell Directory Services® (NDS™) that facilitates management and remote configuration of routers and switches from Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks, Cisco Systems, Inc. and other vendors. Leveraging the intelligence of NDS and its user and resource data, this Java technology can enable customers to reduce network ownership costs while improving manageability and the quality of network service. Cisco, recognizing overwhelming customer demand, made a related announcement today of their commitment to provide
interoperability between NDS and Cisco Assure products, Cisco User Registration and Tracking and Cisco Network Registrar. This follows recent announcements with Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks, in which the two companies committed to deliver similar interoperability and to also bundle NDS with their respective products in the first half of 1999.

Novell and Cisco Set Broad Compatibility Accord

By JOHN MARKOFF

AS VEGAS -- Novell Corp. and Cisco Corp., two major players in the computer networking
industry, will announce Wednesday that they have agreed to make their software and hardware
broadly compatible.

The move is seen as a victory for Novell in its effort to halt the advances of Microsoft Corp.'s
Windows NT, an operating system that incorporates office networking technologies, a market that
Novell once dominated.

Directory programs that permit computers and computer users to
track the location of network resources have become
increasingly crucial as business networks have grown to include
tens of thousands of computers, printers, servers and disk
storage systems.

Cisco, the largest player in the market for network routers and
switches, has previously agreed to support Microsoft's Active
Directory service for office networks.

However, both Microsoft's Windows NT and its Active Directory software projects have suffered
lengthy delays and will not be available until sometime next year.

Novell has refined its Netware Directory Services, or NDS, software and has struck compatibility
agreements with both Lucent Technologies and Nortel, two other makers of computer networking
gear.

"Cisco's customers pushed very hard for a directory deal with Novell," said Novell chairman and
chief executive Eric Schmidt. "This permits both management and remote configuration of Cisco
routers and switches from our software."
