Another E*trade advantage is one commission schedule for both Internet and broker assisted trades. This is good when there is a problem entering an Internet order and you don't have to worry about fighting to get your Internet commission when you call it in. (This can be a hassle with some of the other brokers, even though they say on the phone they're giving you the Internet commission, when you check your account it's a different story) Also an advantage for those option traders out there is Exercises and Assignments are not charged the heafty broker assisted commissions as with other brokers which can get as high as 8cents/share vs the 3cents for online.

Execution time. For what I/we are doing, that's 90% of the battle. We've probably all had execution times that have cost us hundreds of dollars....or worse. I always baulk when I think of these services that cost several hundred dollars/month...pcquotes for example, with the claim that execution times could get down to under 5 seconds. Christ, I've lost that much and more in a day (let alone a month) while I dicked around framing up the order, relogging on cuz I timed out, or just plain waited for the order to get filled....but then missed it. Everyone take a moment and do some rough math on the money you've lost (or not won) because of execution issues in a month. I did. It's ridiculous and costs me much more than ANY cost of any system out there. Kevin
