Roger,
Zacks is still showing the .26 estimate for FLC, but that's over 30 days old, from before their "Deepwater Report". Anybody know if First Call updated their numbers? I sure hope that report is fully discounted and The Street looks at that 0.38 v the 0.26 estimate instead of -0.12! Tomorrow could be a big move day.

FLC Charges

When was the planned $85 million charge publicized? I know it was stated in the release two weeks ago, but was that the first time we heard of it? It doesn't seem like estimates have come down much at all, even in the last 90 days, maybe a nickel or so per share.

One would think that if a company was planning a .51/share charge, it would affect estimates pretty drastically! Which is just to say that I don't think this was factored-in much at all. I wish I knew!

Estimates were what, around .26 for this Q? So if you take out the charge, FLC earned about .39, not bad. If you add back in the charge they took in Q3 '97, FLC earned around .47. So that's a 17% decline for Q3 '98 vs Q3 '97, not nearly as bad as some. It's so hard to say what the analysts are counting or not counting in these OSX estimates. From where I sit, I'd say these numbers tonight aren't bad at all. But what do I know :-)

Regarding FLC: <They would have earned something like 0.38 without the charge, instead they lost 0.12>

I had first estimated 0.38 for FLC, but that is not accurate because of taxes and I did not have the total outstanding share. Has anyone done the real math yet? Sorry if I missed the post -- if someone did.
