<<when Slick was thanking the USSR for sending the bullets that killed them.>>

That's ridiculous. Your friends are dead because they were sent to fight in a war. It is a tragedy that it was a ware that was ill conceived, hardly in our vital national interest, and which we were unprepared to fight to win. Very many of America's best and brightest schemed in all sorts of ways to avoid fighting in that war. Not because they were unwilling to do their duty. But because they saw it as their duty to oppose the war, and do nothing to prosecute it. How horrible to fight and die in a war which you deeply oppose.

History has show how little that war mattered to America, except for the tragedy of those compelled to fight in it, and especially those who died in it. We clearly lost the war. And so what happened? Nothing. Vietnam became Communist. Their lost. The great majority of the population wanted it at the time. So they made a stupid mistake. That was what Americans should have been sent to die for? When so small a percentage of the population were willing to fight for their freedom from Communism, and those almost entirely those in the South Vietnamese government, military, or living off helping supply the American forces? Stupid, stupid war.
