I have no idea whether the HP rumor has any merit. From my rather ignorant-of-SGI-HP position, I tend to think not, since this has been talked about by those on this thread for nearly a year now, with little mention of it in the press. Then again, the less media and speculation over a merger usually means the more likely it is.

Someone on this thread actually quoted something more like a buyout in the upper teens, which I read as $17-19. You're right, though. This doesn't seem like very much, given that SGI used to live above $20. Operative words there are "used to"

Where is the "synergy" between SGI & HWP? HPUX and IRIX? Nah. Maybe the common intel chip stuff. Maybe the high end stuff. Dunno.
