The fact is the Republicans still have the majority. They still have much of the state legislatures and governorships which has lately been the primary source for presidential candidates. Seems the public doesn't see Congress as a good breeding ground for financial management of the government thanks to the Democrat's 40 years of mismanagement. I don't have much affinity for the Religious Right or for your Immoral Left.

dougjn - I wouldn't celebrate being only a field-goal behind at half-time if I were you. Check the Governor races and think about the 2000 census and redistricting. Democrats still don't have enough power in Congress to be able to statistically bastardize the census.

Republican Governors will have more influence on the makeup of their House delegations. Without the Democrat's historical gerrymandering of incredibly complex districts (some of which were clearly unconstitutionally race-based and were declared invalid in the courts), it may be a long time before Democrats control either congressional body.

And I sure don't see your back-up quarterback (Gore) as a strong replacement for the liar Clinton.
