Wow!
I am new to this message string. Having just left such great areas as SYQT.
But, I have followed Yahoo for the duration of it's existence.
It's real.
It's the only real search site on the Internet.
Why. It has a following that developed from it's inception.
Two Stanford kid nerds
(sorry guys, my son went to Harvey Mudd nerdschool),
who had a new idea-technology, etc.
It worked, we use it, and they have the few advertisers that recognize real exposure, not just "hit" numbers and pay for it.
As the "pundits" have predicted "no profits" for years to come,
Yahoo has eked out a profit.
As it continues to do the things like a British Telecom partnership, that make a company successful, it will start to make sense to the traditional net-equity-people.
But, my bet is that they are looking for partnerships which fit their
psychology of business, more than our traditional psychology of "making money"
The tradition is changing.
When we see a company so over capitalized, in ten years, be the ATT, IBM, Standard Oil,WalMart, Home Depot, Bank of America genre, for our children's investing analysis, we'll look back and say I wish I had bought at $200.00
