Glenayre Receives $6 Million Order for Expansion of Wanlitong Nationwide Paging Network in China

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire -- Glenayre has received a $6 million volume purchase order for the expansion of Wanlitong Paging's nationwide network in China. Glenayre is providing RF equipment, which includes GL-T8321 transmitters with GL-C2000E controllers. Supported entirely by Glenayre's FLEX(TM)-based 280 MHz paging infrastructure, Wanlitong's high speed paging network was launched in January 1998.

''This expansion will increase the coverage of our existing nationwide network from 20 cities to 60 cities by the third quarter of 1999,'' said Mr. Wu Zhao Hui, project director of Wanlitong. ''We have been building our high speed paging network with Glenayre equipment and we are satisfied with its performance.''

''We are very pleased that the performance of our infrastructure equipment has been fully recognized,'' said Chinnee Tong, area vice president and general manager for Glenayre's China operations. ''Wanlitong's order is the result of our continuous commitment and dedicated support to customers.''

Wanlitong's network provides Chinese character paging services to twenty cities in China, including Beijing, Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
