EL..It is uncanny how accurate your prognostications have become. You could have made a ton of dough acting on what you know and anticipate with Compost. I have taken your advice and lightened up a lot then buy back on dips. It's not like this bucket of crap is going to jump up to 60 over night. There will be plenty of time to buy if it decides to leave the station. In the mean time I think the train needs a new conductor that can be trusted. There truly was some serious fraud taking place for who knows how long and simply put, this management can not be trusted and needs to be replaced.

You are very right and it is frustrating for many of us that like CPQ as a growth company. I truly believe that by this time next year that we might see a very big breakout because the 2nd half of 99 is projected to be significant for computers and tech. The market as a discounting system however looks up to 2 years ahead on earnings and the the street big money just isn't playing this stock for accumulation.... JMHO

Here is an interesting little web site that I found that presents data on a few stocks including CPQ showing graphically the options maximum pain point that I discussed in my first posting.

pipeline.com

Even the author doesn't tout it as a strategy but shows the info as an artifact. I had a chance to discuss the issue with a floor trader at the Seattle money show a few weeks ago and he said it has some validity and has very much been affecting CPQ and other stocks.

I hope this loser can do as well in the next 20 days as it has in the past 20 (although I admit that the last 4 haven't been sterling)...

Bring on BTO, bring on Comdex, bring on 40+ cents in 4Q98, and blow the doors off the Enterprise in products and service in '99! Ben won't tolerate a bad 4Q (ask Rod) so I predict that EM and EP are gonna deliver BIG TIME!

Long on CPQ!
