Cisco has been developing Solaris version of MS Active Directory for quite some time which it hopes to ship in Feb 1999, contemporaneously with Novell's shipping an LDAP-enabled version of NDS. I don't see one as anymore mature than the other.

... Cisco Systems Inc. is developing a Solaris version of Microsoft Corp.'s Active Directory that, ironically, could beat Microsoft's own release of the directory out the door.
Cisco could ship as early as February its CNS/AD (Cisco Networking Services for Active Directory), sources close to the company said. Cisco has exclusive rights to Active Directory code for developing the technology on Solaris.
Cisco's release timetable is ahead of Microsoft's because Cisco is focusing solely on directory development, whereas Microsoft is integrating Active Directory into Windows NT 5.0, which is scheduled to ship in mid-1999.

According to some people Active Directory will offer more capabilities than NDS. Do you concur?
