Leap and Wireless Business Solutions are sitting there ready to go.

Harvey White didn't go over to Leap to help build a cdmaOne network in Australia, Mexico etc. That is going to be big! It is to take over where NextWave crashed. They can get USA spectrum via NextWave. Voice must be part of the deal with Microsoft. Integrated solutions are essential. Send email with voice, talk only, data and Web all together over IP.

When Irwin says "we see some very interesting opportunities that may arise in the US" he is continuing the 'the fun is just beginning' theme.

I'm sick of the charisma nonsense over the conference call, [not that I saw it so this is only guesswork]. Charisma is rot. If CNBC ask dumb questions about baseball, might as well answer them. That's the way interviews work. All I care about is good IP developments [both intellectual property and internet protocol], good business arrangements [as with Sony, the licensing deals and now with Microsoft]. Maybe the personality needed to make The Q! as it is, is inconsistent with what would make for 'tv allure'. I'll take the real stuff instead of the image.

When customers make buying choices, they don't think of Irwin on CNBC and if they do, maybe he seems straighforward and honest. I like Gregg's character reference. Good enough for me! I'll keep Irwin and the low stock price and sell a billion bucks worth of stuff and go on listening to 'kachiinngggggg' in the bottom line. Stuff the television interviewers and analysts - they can do what they like.

It was hardly surprising that the stock price sagged when 7 million shares did some profit taking. The price had soared 50% from the low of $39ish.

With Microsoft joining up, it looks as though the QUALCOMM team will have all the money needed to develop their IP. It isn't really surprising that Microsoft came running over - after all, they wouldn't want to see The Q! gradually become as big as Microsoft, Compaq and Intel combined without a share in it. This sounds good for all [other than L M Ericsson and co].

Now I just have to cross my fingers that QUALCOMM's good standing with Bill Clinton's gang is more powerful magic than $ill Gates' poor standing. I suspect so. But the relationship will be getting some very detailed scrutiny from the Washington anti-profit, anti-monopoly crowd [unless it is THEMSELVES wielding government power] who simply don't understand that all sales are monopolistic, all business is monopolistic to a greater or lesser degree. Each person is fully monopolistic over themselves. Freedom to choose is all that matters and governments should keep their sticky hands OFF!

I really didn't think the Janet Reno gaze would be coming so soon to the world of QUALCOMM. But I bet she is already preparing to demand all emails from QUALCOMM to Microsoft. Oh no! Bill Clinton and Al Gore should sack her now! Charlene Barshevsky is great. She knows what free trade is!

Do they want the USA to stay hugely successful or not? The voters have told the Republicans to forget about their stupid impeachment game. Let's take a look at the world through a rose-coloured wallet - the more traditional USA approach. This obsession with cigars has gone on long enough.

Hands off QUALCOMM/Microsoft.
