Good article. Now, if we can just get down to the drilling.
Someone once called drilling the drills of truth. If you were
certain that the cone theory was true and you had 4 mil. dollars
to spend, where would you place your drills? Would you drill
to establish the dykes, or would you take a map, draw the
cones, run up a 3D model on the computer, then set your targets
to confirm your theory? That's riskier than continuing to follow
the dyke but, if the theory is right, much more rewarding. The
more conservative and sensible plan is to follow the dyke. The
\trouble with theories, though, is that if you profess them, as
this professor does, the pressure is on to prove them. Sort of
like the advice I got once about pistols. If you're not going to
use it, don't take it out of your holster.
