The upward trend of the semi-equip group continued this week. The group was up 2 percent for the week. This is the 4th week in a row. The gains the previous three weeks were 14, 27 and 4 percent respectively. The spread of the winners and losers was very large this week, running from a 44 percent gain for GSNX to a 17 percent loss for PLAB. Of the 41 stocks in the group, 22 were up, 17 were down and 2 stayed the same. The last 4 weeks have been all up weeks for the semi-equips. Over that period, the gain of the group has been 54 percent. All of the 41 stocks with the exception of 1 stock, COHU which was up 8 percent, are up over 10 percent. Six of the stocks are up 100 percent or better. The best of the bunch is AFLX, up 223 percent. For those who bought at 2.50, and didn't sell along the way, life must look very sweet tonight.
